During the months of September and October 2021, Bimec in collaboration with Generations Association conducted a mentoring process with 6 potential local community leaders. The mentoring was based on, the materials developed by the Local Community Leaders project.
As a result of the mentoring process:
Mentees gained confidence that they can be mentors - that they have the knowledge and skills to do so. They also began to believe that they could achieve positive results, such as making a difference in other people and even impacting the community in an indirect way by implementing leadership mentoring for local leaders. They also found that mentees trusted them and were grateful for their attention and new skills.
Mentees learned how to use the online platforms presented and how to use them to help others. In the beginning they found it difficult to work with the tools presented, but then they learned a lot and were satisfied. They also learned a lot about local community leadership and how they can take on such responsibilities.
Both mentors and mentees said that they better understood the importance of local community leadership and were more confident about their role in this process.
