2nd Newsletter February REACH YOUTH’s partnership keeps working on our methodologies!
In November 16-19, 2020 the partner organizations got together virtually to try out some of the methods each organization has brought forward to assess their validity. It has also been a great chance to experiment the online implementations of interventions so far designed for a face-to-face implementation. During this time each day we have piloted 2 methods for a total of 8 interventions taken from our training modules: IO2 Democracy Intervention Set and IO3 Communication and Conflict management.
The experience has been challenging but highly rewarding. All partners’ great commitment and positive approach as well as their experience in moderation of these activities has resulted in the creation of an additional set of intervention specifically described for an online use. These descriptions will be integrated in our training materials so that the applicability of the intervention will be further expanded even if social distancing remains a constant in our daily lives.
We are in the midst of the completion of our Democracy Intervention Set, which will then be translated into all partner languages and made available on the project website.
Moreover, in order to pilot-test the methods that have not yet been piloted online, the partners will meet up again, this time hopefully on a face-to-face basis, in May 2021 in Sofia, Bulgaria. However, we are constantly monitoring the situation regarding covid-19 and related travel restriction policies. Our Conflict Management module is ready!
The module is already available in English on our webpage and Partners are translating the module in all their national languages. It will soon be uploaded and freely available on our website in German, Italian, Spanish, Greek and Bulgarian! Piloting ready to start soon
In the upcoming season we will be piloting our methods with external stakeholders from the 5 participating countries (Germany, Spain, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Italy). It will be an intense and exciting piloting programme. At first youth workers and social workers will be trained on the contents developed by REACH YOUTH, then a second round of piloting will be an actual deployment of the methodologies from the trained youth workers on to young people they support. This piloting structure is crucial in order to provide top-quality training materials and up-to-date methodologies to address democracy education with young people while discussing today’s challenges.
Would you like to participate in the piloting? The e-learning platform
Our e-learning platform is currently under development. Once ready, it will become an online learning environment where you will find our methodologies and materials structured for remote-learning and including additional resources. Keep following us to be updated on our progresses.
About REACH YOUTH
Reach Youth is an initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union which aims at empowering youth and social workers and providing them with the tools to protect young people from radicalization and extremism by acquiring the key values of democracy and the sense of active participation it entails as a mean to address societal issues. To do so, the partnership is working on a set of outputs geared to these ends. Namely, a training curriculum on democracy training tailored to the needs of youth workers, an additional module on conflict resolution and communication and an e-learning platform where all these contents will be easily and freely available to users on an e-learning basis. In addition to all this, after the piloting season of our products, we will create an implementation guide which will be available for those youth workers who would like to use our materials and learn from our piloting experience.
